Kapil Alaskar's exploration of the erotic in art directly correlates sensual experience with artistic expression. His perspective underlines, in a very serious engagement by the theme, sexuality and sensuality, human form, as well as in ancient Indian sculptures, those like can be seen at temples in Khajuraho. Erotic here speaks beyond mere nudity to profound extent of the body itself as it relates to the vessel for emotional as well as sensual expression.
In essence, he says, in particular with the words "Nudity is in the mind of the beholder," something that sounds more universal and philosophical, as the sense of eroticism of a given subject more often reflects on the viewer's head rather than the object of observation. His process as an artist leads him into an internal inquiry in pursuit of the use of women's sensuality, through sketches, drawings, paintings, and so on. The culmination of his artistic work under the concept of "STIMULATION" reveals that he considers the body to not be only an object but rather a subject of deep inquiry and artistic inspiration.
From the comparison he makes of Khajuraho's ancient sculptures, which have carved sensuality into every piece, it can be understood that his artwork challenges societal taboos and trivial perceptions of erotic art. His own world shows his concern with interdisciplinary approaches to the human body because the presence of elements such as rhythm, smell, and desire in his work is a kind of testimony to his not so normal or traditional thought. His view that the body "is not merely a useful tool for sex" but rather a far more complex and profound aspect is part of his creative ethos.

The various works reveal the architectural beauty and cultural vignettes of these monuments by highlighting their traditional heritage & historical significance.
The series on beauty of nature includes the paddy fields and the richness of the grandeur of nature in Konkan and other rural regions. He has focussed on showing the relevant details in an artistic and aesthetic way by apt textural finesse of earth or other surfaces in that region. He has highlighted vivid norms of social life of people in that area and the simplicity thereof.
Ranadip Mukherjee's paintings are a wonderful combination of unknown form and colours.
His picture of Benares looks like a manuscript of a poem. It is amazing to see the application of colours there. Ranadip Mukherjee is a name who has been working for the past 33 years in the field of the contemporary art world in India. He had his first solo exhibition at Kolkata's Academy of Fine Arts in 1991, his second solo show at Kolkata's prestigious auditorium in Tata Centre the following year. And in 1993 his first one man show in Mumbai in the Jahangir Art Gallery. Tata Steel commissioned the Artist to paint the glorious100 yrs. history of steel making which Sir Ratan Tata himself opened the show in Jamshedpur on 3rd March 2011. Ranadip shifted his studio from Kolkata to Mumbai permanently in 2002.
Ranadip has been working on the Benares Series since 2009. Among the early works on Benares, we see a painting with a collection of many small incidents. But if we look at the pictures of Benares after that or today, it seems like a romanticism emerging from the depths of the artist's mind. His works are based on free and expressive brush work, his colours are poetic, rich and sensuous, his compositions are sometimes fluid, dynamic and adventurous.
His Benaras works are based on the attitude of the artist's intellectual orientation. In this series, sometimes the water of the river is red and there are many unknown forms floating in it. Sometimes half round or triangular and sometimes or something else. There the colour of the sky is sometimes darkish mauve or yellowish or something else. A quiet world of the artist's independent mind is caught in his pictures. The illusion of this colour and arrangement of forms is like a fairy tale of the artist's mind. Which comes back again and again in his paintings. In the words of the artist, "Every single corner of Benares is my own country. Whom I know well. So I do feel the urge from inside my heart to draw a picture about the ancient city. The Benaras Series is my emotional experience rather than physical reality."

Leading the auction is Lot no. 73, an untitled work by M F Husain executed circa 1960s in oil on canvas. The work originally belonged to the famed Chester and Davida Herwitz collection, often cited as one of the most comprehensive amalgamations of modern and contemporary Indian art in the world. In the presented lot, Husain presents three figures with obscured faces, a recurring theme in his art. The lot will be offered at an estimate of INR 3,50,00,000 – 5,00,00,000.
Another impactful work by Husain, lot no. 173, will also be showcased in the upcoming auction. Untitled (Yellow Strip Of Metaphor) is an oil on canvas work executed in 1967. S H Raza’s ‘Kundalini’, lot no. 86, is an acrylic on canvas work executed in 1999. Created in his signature style, the work comes from his vast oeuvre of geometric works in vibrant colours. Lot no. 197, an untitled large-scale work by K K Hebbar is estimated to be acquired at INR 1,00,00,000 – 1,50,00,000. The mixed media on board work was executed in 1968 and reflects the artist’s enduring interest in the folk traditions, geography and fauna of India.
Thota Vaikuntam’s untitled work, lot no. 234 is an acrylic on canvas work executed in 2017. Vaikuntam’s oeuvre consists of paintings that encapsulate the everyday life of the rural folk of Telangana, their culture and the mythology associated with it. The work is estimated at INR 80,00,000 – 1,20,00,000.
An untitled work by Manjit Bawa, lot no. 170, is estimated to be sold for INR 3,00,00,000 – 4,00,00,000. Executed in 1988, the oil on canvas work is evidence of Bawa’s inspiration from Indian classical artistic traditions, skillfully blending elements from various genres and periods into his work. 21st August marks the 84th birthday of K. Laxma Goud. Born in 1940, in the state of Telangana, Goud is a prolific Indian painter, celebrated for his distinctive style that blends traditional Indian themes with modern artistic sensibilities. He studied at the Government College of Fine Arts and Architecture in Hyderabad and later at the Faculty of Fine Arts, MS University, Baroda under the guidance of K.G. Subramanyan from 1963 to 1965.
Through his works, he often explored themes related to rural life, folk traditions, and the human form. His art is notable for its use of bold lines, vibrant colours, and an expressive portrayal of emotions and daily tribal life. He employs various media, including drawing, painting, and printmaking, and is known for his mastery of the medium of etching.
Laxma Goud is popularly known for his early erotic works that often merged traditional Indian motifs with a modernist approach, creating a visual dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary. His pieces captured the essence and subtleties of intimacy and sensuality without making it look crude or indelicate. This approach was a subject of both admiration and controversy, as it challenged the conventional boundaries and engaged with themes that were sometimes considered taboo in traditional contexts.
