A painting by S.H. Raza, valued at Rs 2.5 crore, has been stolen from an auction house's warehouse in South Mumbai.
A painting by renowned Indian modernist painter S.H. Raza, valued at Rs 2.5 crore, has allegedly been stolen from a warehouse of an auction house in South Mumbai. The artwork was last seen in March 2022 and was found missing when the owner requested it for auction again in 2024. The police have registered a case of theft.

Indian artist to be awarded in New York
Indian artist to be awarded in New York. Pastel Society of America has announced the precious Flora B.Giffuni Memorial award to the Indian artist Parag Borse for the year 2024. This award will be given to him in a prestigious ceremony on 22nd September in Manhattan, New York.
Pastel society of America is an organization which was founded in 1972 by Flora B.Giffini. It is the oldest society in America. It is largely responsible for the current renaissance of pastels in American Art. The society's annual exhibition at the national Art club in New York is the Premier event for artists worldwide. PSA encourages artistic advancement through prestigious awards, both monetary and material distributed during its annual exhibition to pastel artists showing technical acumen and creative use of test techniques.

This is the 52nd year of their annual exhibition called "Enduring brilliance. This year pastel society of America has received 1155 submissions from all over the world and they have selected only 125 works for inclusion. Parag Borse’s, painting titled ‘’A turban Gaze’’, is the painting which has been selected for this precious award by the juror of awards was Jeremiah William McCarthy, Chief Curator of The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The painting will be on display in the gallery of national Arts club, 15th Gramercy Park, South New York from 3rd September to 28th September 2024.This award is a cash award of thousand dollars. The award will be given to him on 22nd September in the grand ceremony which will be held at the national Arts club 15th Gramercy Park south, Manhattan, New York. The painting is of a Maharashtrian shepherd wearing an orange turban. The painting depicts the beauty and grace of Indian culture.
He is the only Indian artist whose work has been selected four times by the same organization for its annual exhibition. Though Parag Borse has been awarded two times in the past by the Pastel Society of West Coast, America. He was also awarded two times by the very famous pastel journal magazine which Publishes from America.

“COLOURAAG” Solo Show of Paintings by artist Pavan Kumar Attavar in Jehangir
Pavan Kumar Attavar hails from Mangalore. He has his art education upto BFA from University college of Fine Arts, Davangere followed by a diploma in Advanced Computer Art from C-DAC Pune. He is at present working in Synamedia Ltd. (UK based entertainment streaming company) at Manipal in its UI-UX design team. He has got inspiration from Dali (surrealism), Van Gough (Brush strokes) and Rembrandt (Light and Shade). He has showcased his thematic works earlier in many solo and group art exhibitions in different art galleries and got positive feedback from the art world. He has participated in several art camps in the state. He is an active member of Artists Forum Udupi.
The Series presented by Pavan Kumar Attavar elaborates the relevance and sanctity of white space or highlights and dark areas or depth. Having been greatly influenced by high notes and low note in Music and their effect on the listeners and all alike, he has incorporated the same inspiration from music in his artwork using apt colour tones and their rhythmic harmony. His work prominently highlights, the Violin in particular along with other instruments like Damru and Trident and their tonal resonance in orderto spread the fragrance and rhythm of music along masses. Making an optimum and iconic use of bull and other relevant ingredients at strategic arenas in the work, he has demonstrated his skill and command over the medium used in order to render ample contentment and divine tranquillity to all. Using the mythological background, he has focussed on the sanctity and relevance of both vibrations and resilience as well as tranquillity in the divine music – aptly called the 5thVed or Pancham Veda to make the overall humanity happy and exhilarating as well as joyful in the apt perspectives of visual arts.

Satish Gaikwad hails from Arvi village in Taluka Koregaon, Dist. Satara. He has been deeply impressed by the eternal and omnipresent beauty of nature and its miracles alongwith the divine Grandeur since his young age. He had his art education upto ATD at J.M.Bhandari School of Art, Belgaum followed by an advanced course upto Dip A. Ed in fine arts from Abhinava Kala Mahavidyalaya Pune. He further learnt Lithography and Itching at Lalit Kala Academy Bhuvaneshwar, Orissa. He has been encouraged by his teachers at Belgaum, Sangli, Pune and Bhuvaneshwar as well as late Mr. P D Patil – MLA from Karad. He has participated in many solo and group art shows at the reputed art galleries at Mumbai, Pune, Karad, Hyderabad etc and got good public response for his work. He showed his skill in 12 different portraits of Late Y.B.Chavan, the 1st Chief Minister of Maharashtra as a part of his birth centenary celebration at Venutai Chavan , Memorial Karad. He participated in a group art show organized by Blue reflection group, Mumbai as a tribute to 125th birth anniversary of Late Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Satish Gaikwad has been working as an art teacher in Shree Shivaji Shikshan Sanstha Trust Karad from the last 27 years. He worked at Shree Shivaji Vidyalaya Karad for 4 years, Danshur Bhaskarrao Shamrao Thorat Vidyalaya Karve for 18 years and Shree Shivaji Vidyalaya Masoor for last 5 years.
The present series in oil and acrylic colours on canvas elaborates the omnipresent beauty of Nature in various seasons throughout a year in his expressive style. He has focused on vivid facets of the beauty of nature in the apt arenas and perspectives in his unique creative as well as illustrative style. After a significant hiatus, renowned artist Prakash Bal Joshi has returned with a captivating solo exhibition of abstract paintings titled “Inner Impressions” at Artequest Art Gallery in Mumbai.
This exhibition offers a profound exploration of Joshi’s artistic journey, showcasing works that resonate with timeless beauty. In a world where silence often speaks volumes, Joshi’s paintings emerge as vivid expressions of solitude.
His works invite viewers into a space of pure consciousness through layers and hues of select colors. Over the past decade, Joshi has participated in prominent art shows in international art hubs including Venice, New York, Chicago, London, Lisbon, Cairo and Singapore.
The exhibition was inaugurated by distinguished guests including Aliaksandra Matsuku, Consul General of Belarus, Veteran theatre actress Dolly Thakore, Veronique Poles, fashion consultant from France, entrepreneur Ashwin Agarwal, art connoisseur Siddharth Naik, and Dr. Sanjay Bhide, founder of the Trans Asian Chamber of Commerce.
Due to popular demand, the show at Artequest Art Gallery has been extended until September 13.
